Meter Upgrades

Meter upgrades are a key part of the multifaceted solutions we provide to our clients.

 

Many water meters use moving parts to measure positive displacement.  Over time wear and tear can cause those moving parts to stick, causing meters to slow down and record less water than is actually consumed.  This prevents a portion of the water from being billed appropriately, leading to non-revenue water.

 

In our engagements with clients, we upgrade older mechanical meters with solid-state meters such as ultrasonic or electromagnetic meters, which provides several benefits:

• Higher accuracy over long time periods
• Higher accuracy at low flow
• Less sensitivity to water quality

 

The newer meters also provide additional functionality such as enhanced alerting, connectivity to Advanced Metering Infrastructure, and in some cases remote shutoff and pressure and temperature readings.
